Guatemala, El Salvador,
Adventure, Round-Trip, Guided
This adventure tour takes you through Guatemala, El Salvador, and Honduras. You will ride to some of the highest peaks in all of Central America on a mix of dirt and pavement. You will see ancient ruins, natural wonders, and incredible vistas. If you daydream about the ultimate dual sport tour, this is it!
This round trip adventure tour starts in Antigua and takes you both on and off road to exciting places in Central America. Enjoy a cultural ride in the foothills and villages surrounding Antigua to get to know your rental bike before we will drop 5,000 feet of elevation as we leave town and wind down the volcanoes on our way to the Pacific Coast. Exhilarating dirt roads will lead us to the crater lake Coatepeque in El Salvador, a beautiful and sparkling blue crater-shaped lake. We will crest El Salvador's highest peak and then head for the border of Honduras. The city of Copán is nestled among rolling hills and was one of the great centers of Maya civilization over a thousand years ago. On your day off you will have the option to explore the beautiful Mayan ruins. On our way to Rio Dulce, we cross back into Guatemala. We will hug the coast of Lake Izabal on a mix of pavement and gravel roads. At the end of the lake the road begins to narrow as it winds up the mountains of Altaverapaz. Enjoy great views from all the mountain peaks. After a day of riding on very twisty dirt roads we will relax in the natural blue pools of Semuc Champey, one of the most popular destinations in Guatemala, with a cave system, waterfalls and even natural water slides. On our way back to Antigua we will have great climbs, great views, and thrilling descents, on roads which wind up and down through the hills of Central Guatemala. The accommodations are comfortable beach, mountain, and jungle lodges.
This tour is a pure adventure. Two up riding is not possible. You will be responsible for transporting your own luggage on your bike, so plan accordingly.
